DK Kwenye Beat, a gospel singer, claims he would have died of depression due to a sex scandal if it hadn't been for his supportive wife, Shanice Wangeci.
DK and fellow gospel singer Hopekid were involved in a sex scandal four years ago, claiming they persuaded a young girl from Nakuru into having unconsented intercourse.
The woman, whose identity is still unknown, told NTV that the two musicians afflicted her with the incurable sexual illnesses herpes and Human papillomavirus (HPV) following a threesome.
"I'd published Kijana Wa Kayole, Kwa Yesu Mambo Sawa, and a collaboration called Hajawahi Kuniangusha, all of which were performing well. At the time, that was my return. I had begun to attract large shows. Everything appeared to be going well. I was getting paid. Then came the scandal," DK recounted.
He became bewildered as a result of the controversy.
"That was the start of a new jungle." Things have been different since. In my entire life and profession, I had never been embroiled in a scandal. My wife was not in the country at the time. It became exaggerated. "I was constantly in contact with my wife, but I never told her about the scandal," he explained.
"However, when I saw it on TV, my mother and Shanice called me." Shanice was interested in hearing my side of the tale, but I was initially hesitant. "Then she said, 'If I am to walk alongside you through this jungle, I need to understand,'" DK explains.
"When I told her, she said herpes isn't malaria; it's a severe virus that needs to be checked." So I conducted a test. She chose to stay with me when she could have walked away. I would have died of depression long ago if it hadn't been for my wife's support."
DK maintains that the herpes charge is untrue to this day.
Following the scandal with the two artists trending for days, DK Kwenye Beat took a break from music at the height of his fame.
"I've been silent since 2019." It's been five years since I've had a concert. "I'm not as excited about performances as I used to be," DK recently stated.
He can only thank his wife, who supported him throughout his humiliation, for his recent comeback.
