Siaya County Deputy Governor William Oduol, who is currently facing challenges, has expressed his willingness to step down from his position if Governor James Orengo also agrees to resign.

However, Oduol revealed that he is open to engaging in a dialogue with Governor Orengo to address the issues that have been causing conflict between them.

In an interview on KBC, Oduol emphasized his readiness to negotiate with Orengo in order to resolve their differences and ensure that the conflicts do not hinder effectiveness.

"I will sit down with the governor if he invites me for a talk. I will show him where the loopholes are… to be sealed to avoid the wastage of public resources. I will even pinpoint the characters (unnamed individuals) who have stolen the money. Let us sanction them," he noted.

In the event that the disputes between the two parties were successfully resolved, Oduol expressed his unwavering dedication to serving the constituents who elected him into office.

He further stressed that the ongoing conflicts were having a detrimental impact on the reputation of the county. However, he made it clear that he was determined to uncover any underlying corruption issues in order to safeguard public resources.

Oduol firmly asserted that he had no intentions of resigning from his position. He cautioned those advocating for his resignation to redirect their energy towards fulfilling their own responsibilities and mandates instead.

"I was elected on a joint ticket with Orengo, I can't resign alone. Section 180 of the constitution sub-section 6 says a governor and deputy governor are elected together under one ticket," he stated.

Therefore, he reiterated that if he were to resign, it would signify that Governor Orengo should also step down, thereby providing the people of Siaya with a fresh chance to elect new leaders.

Regarding the County Assembly's endorsement of his impeachment, the deputy governor expressed his fearlessness in the face of the motion initiated by the MCAs.

"I am not scared by that impeachment, let them bring it on," he added.

Furthermore, Oduol clarified that he had not received any official communication from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party regarding his removal from the party.

The deputy governor emphasized that there were no valid reasons or substantial grounds to warrant his expulsion from the ODM party. He asserted that his actions were not driven by proxies but rather on behalf of the Siaya residents who elected him into office.
