Police in Naivasha are investigating claims by a businessman for having lost his pistol after he forgot it in a toilet in the Delamare shopping centre in Naivasha.

Tanui said he was travelling from his Molo home to Nairobi when he stopped at the shopping centre for a shortfall. He is a licensed gun holder.

He entered the washroom and placed his Glock pistol with 15 bullets on the toilet window.

After finishing the call of nature, he said, he walked back to his car and proceeded with his journey to Nairobi, only to realise that he had forgotten his pistol at the washroom at the Delamere shopping centre.

He then drove to Karen police station, where police accompanied him to the scene, but no recovery was made.

Police asked to review the CCTV footage of the place as part of the probe into the incident.

The matter is being investigated with hopes of recovering the weapon, police said. No arrest has been made so far.

There are more than 12,000 civilian firearm holders in the country.
