Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a Kenya Power engineer attempting to disconnect an illegal power line at the member of parliament's home in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
In a now-viral video circulating on social media, the MP can be seen insulting Kenya Power personnel before repeatedly striking one during the altercation on Monday. During his wrath, Mbai reached for and attempted to draw his gun.
After arriving on the scene with police, KPLC officers were able to disconnect the electrical line on Tuesday. The men in blue also detained two workers at the property still under construction.

Officials from the power company allegedly recovered a power meter and additional power lines from the Rural Electrification Authority at the MP's residence.
Kenya Power officials claim that the MP constructed an illegal power line reaching more than a kilometre at the premises. The reason for the disconnection is that it was overloading the nearby transformer.
