The challenging responsibility of censoring pornographic websites has been assigned to Uganda's internet service providers.
On Wednesday, the government threatened to issue a decree requiring the blocking of adult content to save the nation's impressionable youth from the dangers of online pornography.
The government aims to protect children from predators, sexual content, and offensive social media posts.
The action was taken in response to a request for the government to restrict all pornographic content made by Uganda's Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa.

"Our teens are exposed to pornography, and our youngsters are exposed to violent cartoons. Pornography is restricted in nations that practice Islam. Tell me how much the economy would suffer if pornographic websites were blocked nationwide. We are dying from pornography, added Tayebwa.
A "pornographic control committee" was established by the Ugandan government in 2017 to identify and outlaw pornographic content within the nation's boundaries.
Even further, this committee spent Ksh.12 million to buy a "special machine" that was said to be able to find every pornographic material in Uganda.
