Six Chinese were on Tuesday arraigned for allegedly engaging in mining activities in the Kitigu area, Vihiga County, without a license.
The six suspects include one woman and five men: Zhang Yongzhon, Lu Qing, Liu Rui, Qui Xiamping, Yao Youpeng, and Wang Yongbin.
The foreign nationals were detained last week and hauled before the Vihiga Law Courts to answer for several offences, including illegal mining in the Kitigu area.
Along with not registering their identification, they were accused of entering Kenya illegally, working there without authorization, and failing to register their identification.
Two of the accused were released by Chief Magistrate Samson Ongeri, who also ordered them to pay a bond of Ksh. 1 million or provide two Kes 2 million sureties.
