Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, voluntarily presented himself at the Kakamega police station on Monday for questioning by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

He was sought for questioning in connection with allegations of threatening to kill Kakamega Magistrate Gladys Kiama, with DCI detectives launching a manhunt based on the complaint filed by the magistrate, who presides over the Small Claims Court.

This development arose from Magistrate Gladys Kiama's ruling, which mandated Salasya to settle a debt of 50,000 Kenyan Shillings owed to businessman Robert Lutta.

Lutta had initiated legal proceedings, seeking reimbursement of a loan he asserted he had provided to the MP on December 13th of the preceding year through a KCB bank account.

Salasya underwent a two-hour interrogation before being released on a police bail of Ksh. 20,000 on December 4.

Various organizations, such as the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), have denounced Salasya's actions and called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to conduct a swift investigation into the allegations.
