Fears that the Azimio la Umoja Coalition will be weakened when its chief principal, Raila Odinga, becomes chairman of the African Union Commission have been allayed, according to DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa.
Wamalwa claims that while Raila's primary responsibilities will be in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, his foot soldiers will continue their work in Kenya.
"You are worried that Azimio might break. Today, I assure you that Azimio is intact, Baba (Raila) is our captain," Wamalwa remarked.
"As he goes to Addis, he has left a strong team of Eugene, Wajackoyah, Kalonzo, Karua… let not your hearts be troubled, we will continue fighting for you and pushing Zakayo until he goes home in 2027," the former CS told congregants in Kakamega on Sunday.

There have been rumors that Raila's involvement in local politics will end after he expressed interest in the role of AUC chairperson.
Some leaders have downplayed these discussions and asserted that the former prime minister will keep up his active involvement in Kenyan politics.
