Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Party, has criticized the government for what he claims is wanton corruption.
According to the co-principal of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya, the rise in corruption can potentially erode the credibility of services provided by public institutions and, in extreme circumstances, result in a security breach in the nation.
Speaking on Tuesday at the county governments' governance convention opening in Naivasha, Kalonzo cited a report released in December by the Public Service Commission, which disclosed that 1,280 public servants had their academic credentials falsified.
He denounced the biased hiring procedures in different government departments, focusing specifically on hiring police officers, which he called a "sensitive docket" because of corruption that could lead to civil unrest in the nation.

"I am particularly perturbed by the recent efforts to recruit Kenyans...wametolewa shati wanakimbia, kumbe recruitment imefanywa huko Nairobi...let me be open with you friends, that if you mess up with the composition of a country's defence forces you, will create a problem that will be impossible to cure particularly in our region...yours truly has been involved in peace missions to help our neighbours in other countries to get back on course," he said.
The head of Wiper also charged that President William Ruto's arrogance is to blame for the exorbitant cost of living.
Kalonzo claimed that President Ruto had used coercion to force Members of Parliament to reject the agenda item on the exorbitant cost of living, thereby undermining the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).
"When we sat at the end of the day to try to conclude on agenda, item number one was high cost of living...we could not even agree and I am sure the Kenya Kwanza coalition meeting here in Naivasha are themselves feeling it but they do not want to say because their chief executive told them you must toe the line because I got you elected," he said.
During the conference, various county public service board representatives demanded financial independence to simplify their responsibilities and guarantee sound governance.
