Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has addressed the reported discord between President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, breaking his silence on the matter.
Speaking from his county on Sunday, Governor Kahiga emphasized that as a community, they will not tolerate the humiliation of their son.
The Governor spoke while drawing attention to the divide that emerged between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his then-Deputy, William Ruto, resulting in the latter being stripped of certain privileges.
“I want to say here in front of everyone, we will not allow our son (Gachagua) to go through what Ruto went through in the hands of Uhuru Kenyatta. We will not allow our son to be mistreated. We will not,” said Kahiga.
Kahiga emphasized that Gachagua earned his current position through struggle, and the decision was collectively made, therefore warranting respect.

“Disrespect to Gachagua is disrespect to the mountain, and vice versa. Those trying to bring bad blood between the president and his deputy, we are warning you,” he continued
The governor's remarks come in response to claims of a rift between the two leaders, allegations refuted by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.
Additionally, Deputy Rigathi Gachagua's absence and silence during crucial government events further fueled these speculations.
