Murang'a Woman Representative Betty Maina has openly declared that she will not forgive Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after he allegedly made disparaging remarks about her marriage. Maina, a prominent figure in Mt. Kenya politics, expressed her deep hurt and disappointment, highlighting the emotional impact Gachagua's comments have had on her.

In a recent statement, the Murang'a women representative revealed that Gachagua's comments during her wedding were deeply hurtful. She recalled instances where he insulted her, stating, "We have been insulted, threatened, and humiliated." The law maker particularly highlighted a moment during the dowry negotiations, where Gachagua allegedly expressed doubts about the longevity of her marriage to Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, predicting it would not last beyond six months.

Several legislators, including Betty Maina, have expressed that Gachagua's term in office is coming to an end and are pushing for his impeachment. She denounced Gachagua for what she called his conceit during a public event, implying that he would soon face political repercussions. Her statements came in the wake of Gachagua's public plea for forgiveness, which she vehemently refused.
