Gladys Sholei, the deputy national assembly speaker, has dared those who feel the 2022 general elections were not free and fair to resign from their positions.
During a television interview, Gladys Sholei said that leaders allied to the opposition had accused the IEBC of not conducting a fair election and conspiring with some individuals to rig the polls. Yet, they are in office after their win was verified by the same body they are condemning.
In the interview, the deputy speaker of the national assembly said that When the opposition leaders say that they feel the elections were botched. The current commission could have done a better job, these are elected in an election run by the same commission, but they are still in office and should resign instead of enjoying the fruits of the same commission they do not like.
The senator for kisii Richard Onyonka said that we cannot have commissioners in office who disregard the opinions of other commissioners, like what happened during the 2022 general elections, and that it will affect how the country is governed.
