Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come to the government's defence over the controversial Supreme Court decision on LGBTQ and the donation given by Jill Biden.

While addressing the senate on Thursday, the nandi Senator disputed any claims that the US First Lady's visit to kenya last week was linked to promoting homosexuality in the country. During the visit, Jill Biden donated Ksh.16 billion to the government for drought mitigation.

He clarified that the donation should not be interpreted as the US government promoting LGBTQ in the country, as Kenya is against it.

"There are allegations that the Ksh. 15 billion that has been given to the government to fight drought was courtesy in support of gayism in the country…I want to deny that is not true," he said.

"The visit of Jill Biden does not connect itself with what is happening and therefore we oppose the issue of homosexuality in the country."

While dismissing the court decision as "hot air," the Senator insisted that any attempt to legalise same-sex relationships in Kenya would be rejected. He went on to thank the President and his deputy for their stance on the issue.

"The Supreme Court decision was hot air, it was uncultural, it was uncouth…I want to thank the President and his deputy for saying that the government of Kenyan shall not allow issues of gayism in the country," he noted.

Members of parliament have condemned the court of their ruling to allow members of the LGBTQ community to form an association, saying that the ruling was meant to deteriorate the morals of kenyans and is against the constitution. They added that if need be, they will change the law so that acts like that are not allowed.
