Four Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) players were given one-match suspensions on Thursday for abusive chants directed at rival Marseille after a Ligue 1 match.
PSG will also be forced to close the Auteuil stand at Parc des Princes for one game after fans chanted homophobic taunts at Marseille players.
The suspended players are Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, Achraf Hakimi, and Layvin Kurzawa. This is after a video of them performing an abusive song towards Marseille fans leaked.
The four players have since apologized for their behavior, saying they got carried away after the win.
"We are well aware of the impact of our actions and our words on the public, notably the youngest who dream of watching a football match," they stated.
"In the future, we will do everything to further respect our duty to set an example."
In a Champions League group-stage match, Newcastle thrashed PSG 4-1 at St James' Park on Wednesday.
