Former cricket captain Collins Obuya has announced that he is hanging his boots after guiding Kenya to a record semi-final appearance at the 2003 World Cup.
Obuya's final encounter was a 106-run loss to Uganda in the African Games' third-place play-off, in which the Kenyan opener was clean bowled for a duck by Cosmas Kyewut.
"I have decided to retire from the game after 23 years. It's been a big honour playing for Kenya," said Obuya.
He is most recognized for his 13 wickets, including a career-high 5 for 24 in a 53-run win over Sri Lanka in the 2003 World Cup, which propelled Kenya to the semi-finals for the first time.
His efforts earned him a one-year contract with English county side Warwickshire, making him the first Kenyan international cricketer to play for a county team.
Obuya, who left Kenya's captaincy in 2013, scored 2,044 runs in 104 one-day internationals and grabbed 35 wickets.
