Senator Cherargei wants South African opposition leader Julius Malema banned from visiting Kenya because of his recent remarks about President Ruto.

Cherargei said Malema had humiliated President William Ruto and Kenyans and should, therefore, apologize.

"Mr. Malema should refrain from visiting Kenya and insulting our president." In fact, I'd want to request that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demand an apology from Julius Malema and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party of South Africa, as well as refuse him a visa to return to Kenya," Cheragei stated.

"He should tender an unreserved apology not only to President Ruto but to the great people of Kenya because when you insult William Ruto as the president, you are insulting all Kenyans," he added.

Malema, who was in the country to launch the Pan African Institute at Lukenya University, criticized President William Ruto for failing to keep commitments made to Kenyans in the run-up to the 2022 General Election.

"I don't know if President William Ruto means it because he said so many things, and I can't locate him these days, because the things he said during election and the things he's doing now are two different things," that's what he said in his speech.

"Because I heard him saying we need to do away with the dollar and build our own currency, but his actions are not speaking to anything of doing away with the dollar." he added.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also criticized the remarks made by the South African opposition leader and accused him of interfering with Kenya's affairs.
