On the evening of Thursday, December 28, at least ten people are believed to have died in a fatal crash near the Solio Ranch on the Nyeri-Nyahururu highway. 

Although, at the time of publication, police responding to the scene had yet to confirm the exact number of fatalities. 

According to news reports, a Nyeri-bound 14-seater matatu traveling from Nyahururu collided with an oncoming personal vehicle, catching a motorcycle rider who died on the spot.


A family of six is also reported to be among the dead. Injured people were transported to Mary Immaculate Hospital Mweiga; others were referred to Nyeri County Referral Level 5 Hospital. 

According to witnesses who spoke to Citizen TV, potholes on the road have contributed to several recent accidents. As law enforcement cleared the scene, there was a snarl-up. The carnage occurred just days after three people were killed and several others were injured Along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway..


On Sunday, December 24, the victims were on board a Mash Cool bus traveling from Nairobi to Malindi when it collided with a heavy truck near Taru Town Center on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.
