Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii has introduced a list of incentives to boost the operations of various transportation entities effective February, 1.

Speaking while engaging Boda boda officials from Uasin Gishu, Bii said the incentives aim at improving the affordability of tax payments, fostering a conducive environment for the transport industry.

The incentives include monthly motorbike charges in which the monthly sticker fee has been reduced from Kes 600 to Kes 400 in the CBD and Township, and from Kes 300 to Kes 200 at the sub-county level.

Further, impounding charges for motorbikes have been significantly reduced from Kes 9,000 to Kes 1,100 and storage fees for impounded motorbikes adjusted from Kes 1000 per hour to Kes 1,000 per day.

On PSVs, Impounding charges for matatus have been reduced from Kes 26,100 to Kes 5,000 as storage fees for impounded matatus being revised from Kes 3,000 per hour to Kes 1,000 per day.

Obstruction fees for PSVs have been lowered from Kes. 8,000 to Kes 5,000.

Governor Bii emphasized the importance of fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring that the transport sector continues to play a pivotal role in the county's economic growth.
