Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer and will postpone public appearances.
Charles III, who became king in September 2022 after his mother, Queen Elizabeth, died, is "wholly positive" about his treatment and hopes to resume full public duties as soon as possible, according to the palace.
The King spent three nights in the hospital late last month to have a surgical operation for an enlarged prostate. The palace stated that a different matter of concern was discovered during the hospital visit but provided no further information about the type of malignancy.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time doctors have advised him to postpone public-facing duties," the palace said. "Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue undertaking State business and official paperwork as usual.
