The government, through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, has released more than Kes 2.08 billion for the April payment to beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii Program.

In a statement, Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs Principal Secretary Joseph Motari stated that the government has also released Kes 7 million for nutrition improvement through cash and health education.

“The ministry of labour and social protection has today, Friday 3rd May 2024 released Kes 2,082,697,000 for April payment to beneficiaries enrolled in the inua Jamii programme and a further Kes 7,231,000 for nutritional improvement through cash and Health Education(NICHE), which is a complementary programme,” he said.

The Inua Jamii program stipends are usually meant to support society's most vulnerable, help them escape poverty and hunger, and improve their lives.

“Inua jamii programme is a government cash transfer initiative that supports the most vulnerable members of the community by providing them with a stipend to cushion them from poverty, hunger and improve their lives,” he stated.

Since July last year, the Inua Jamii beneficiaries have been benefiting from the fund on a monthly basis, following the directive by President William Ruto.
