A tragic incident unfolded as a former Meta employee, Anand Henry, allegedly took the lives of his wife, Alice Benziger, and their twin sons before turning the gun on himself in what appears to be a murder-suicide, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Authorities discovered the heartbreaking scene in the family's San Mateo, Calif., residence following a 911 call on Monday morning, as reported by the department to PEOPLE.

Officer Jerami Surratt, who spoke with reporters on Monday, said the 911 caller told them no one had heard from the family for a while, which “raised the concern.” Police believe the incident occurred Saturday.

In an updated statement, the police officers who arrived at the residence noted that there were no indications of forced entry. The statement revealed that Anand Henry and Alice Benziger, both succumbed to gunshot wounds and were discovered in the bathroom. The children were found lifeless in the bedroom, and while the causes of their deaths remain undetermined, authorities confirmed that neither child exhibited gunshot wounds nor signs of physical trauma. Additionally, a handgun registered to Henry was located in the home, according to the police.

As per information available on his LinkedIn page, Anand Henry served as a software engineering manager at Meta from 2022 to 2023, after which he co-founded an AI company. Prior to his time at Meta, he had an extensive tenure of almost eight years at Google.

Alice Benziger, at the time of her tragic demise, was employed as a data scientist at Zillow, as indicated by her LinkedIn profile.

Law enforcement authorities have clarified that the incident is currently under investigation as an isolated case, emphasizing that there is no perceived threat to public safety.

"We are confident the person responsible was located within the home," they said in the statement.
