A Busia Court has handed 18 years imprisonment to a middle aged man after he was found guilty for defiling and impregnating a 12-year-old girl.
Busia Resident Magistrate Eunice Serem heard that the accused person committed the offense to the minor while working as a teacher in one of the local schools in the area.
The prosecution, through Faith Kaberia, proved the case against the accused and called a total of 6 witnesses, who, in their testimony, informed the court that the accused committed the heinous act that led to the young girl getting pregnant and later miscarrying.
Serem in her verdict said the prosecution through testimonies and exhibits from witnesses had discharged the burden of proof and the accused stands convicted
On the other hand, Serem has sentenced a man to 30 years in prison after he was found guilty of defiling a five-year-old girl.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on Friday Serem ruled that the prosecution had proved the case.
Four witnesses testified against the accused who is said to have defiled the minor and even infected her with a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
"The Prosecution presented a total of 4 witnesses who informed the Court that the accused defiled the child in a cassava plantation and subsequently infected the child with a Sexually Transmitted Infection.”
