Mayfair Holdings Limited boss sadly passed away leaving the company in grieve. The news of his passing was conveyed through a condolence message issued by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Monday, March 4.

Governor Nyong’o disclosed that the billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist had breathed his last two days prior while undergoing medical care in the United Kingdom. Fondly eulogizing Amin, he highlighted the profound impact Gilani had on Kisumu's economy, attributing it to his contributions in job creation and economic development.

“Gilani's sudden demise in the United Kingdom on March 2, has robbed this County of a great investment partner,” he eulogized.



“His business enterprises employed hundreds of people and contributed greatly to Kisumu County's investment profile, especially in the tourism and manufacturing sectors.”

Capturing the last moments, Nyong’o remarked that he had recently seen off Gilani’s wife who was travelling to London, UK to be with her husband.

He sympathised with the family for losing their patriarch and owner of one of the oldest business chains in Kenya.

The Gilani family launched Mayfair Holdings Limited in 1967. The founding Gilani family member noted that at the time, he wanted to uplift the economy of Kisumu and its neighbourhoods.

The company which employs directly close to 800 employees has invested heavily in the food and hospitality industry.

Mayfair Holdings owns one of the most popular bread brands in Nyanza and Western regions.

Moreover, Mayfair Holdings Limited boasts ownership of a luxurious five-star hotel situated in the heart of Kisumu City, coupled with substantial investments in the real estate sector. In addition to these ventures, the company also oversees a vast storage facility utilized by traders to streamline the export of fresh produce cargo via the Kisumu International Airport.
