The Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) has ranked APA Insurance as the leading general insurance company of the year in the 22nd AKI Awards.

Further, APA’s Joseph Kariuki was recognized as the year's agent, while Justina Mbona, also from APA, was recognized as the medical insurance agent of the year.

“The 22nd AKI Awards concluded with renewed commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in the insurance Industry, setting a high standard for future endeavours,” AKI said.

AKI considered the performance of the insurance companies during the competition period from January 1 to December 31, 2023.

Additionally, for the third year running, Jubilee Insurance’s Jayshree Haria was feted as the agent of the year in the persistency category.

Ruth Mumbe from Britam Insurance was recognized as the agent of the year in the New Business Category for the second year running.

AKI chairman Nixon Shigoli stressed the need for them to provide legitimate and clear information about the insurance companies as they interact with their customers.

“Insuarance sales agents therefore have a big responsibility in providing clear and correct information about the insurance products, coverage, pricing, and terms. This ensures that the customers knows what they are signing up for,” he stated.

Additionally, AKI has noted that 1,056 agents met the qualifying competition criteria this year, higher than the 783 recorded the previous year.
