The Kedong Ranch-Suswa Road, the Kamulu-Kangundo Road at the Joska Athi River Bridge, and the Ewaso Ngiro-Narusura (B19) Road will all be closed, according to a statement from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA).
In different traffic advisories released on Wednesday night, KeNHA Director General Kung'u Ndung'u stated that the three roads had been impacted by flooding brought on by the heavy rains that are currently falling on the nation.
Regarding the Ewaso Ngiro - Narusura (619) Road, the Authority reported that Tuesday night's intense rains caused drifts at the Oldonyo Orasha River Crossing, making that section of the road impassable.
“KeNHA regrets to inform the public of the closure of Ewaso Ngiro - Narusura (619) Road at Oldonyo Orasha River Crossing. This follows the overtopping of the 120m vented drift as a result of heavy rainfall overnight,” KeNHA stated.

“The Authority cautions road users against any attempts to use this affected area in the interest of their safety.”
Regarding the Kedong Ranch - Suswa Road, KeNHA revealed that heavy debris had been deposited for more than a kilometre which would require more time to be cleared.
“KeNHA regrets to inform the public of the closure of Kedong Ranch - Suswa Road. The closure is due to heavy debris and siltation for over a two-kilometre stretch of the road caused by persistent heavy rainfall. We have closed the section for the next 12 hours to facilitate smooth clearing operations,” read the advisory.
As a result, while the Authority works to find a solution, drivers are advised to exercise patience and utilize alternate routes, such as the Narok - Mau Narok - Nakuru (618) Road, Kaplong-Kericho (66) Road, Mau Summit-Nakuru (A8) Road, and Kericho-Mau Summit (Al2) Road.
Regarding the closure of Kamulu-Kangundo Road, the State agency attempted to notify that the Joska Athi River bridge section flooded due to heavy downpours experienced upstream.
Thus, drivers using the Joska-Kamulu route were advised to use the Joska-Koma-Kaloleni-Mua Interchange-Cabanas-Ruai-Kamulu route in the interim.
The alternate Kamulu-Ruai-Cabanas-Mua Interchange-Kaloleni-Koma-Joska road was used by those traveling via the Kamulu-Joska route.
Users of the Thika Superhighway are also relieved as the Kahawa Sukari drift, which runs between Kenyatta University and Kahawa Barracks, reopened hours after being closed due to flooding.
"The area is now safely accessible for drivers, as the temporary closure caused by flooding has been lifted. KeNHA said, "The Authority appreciates your cooperation and patience.
The Authority announced the partial closure of the busy Superhighway after the section experienced severe flooding on Wednesday morning.
