Two people appeared before Judge Robert Wananda at the Eldoret High Court accused of killing a man they allege was attempting to rob them.
Robert Kiplagat, a farmer, and Alex Kiptoo, a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Nairobi campus student, denied the murder charges.
The crowded court heard that the offence was perpetrated on April 6, 2024, in the HZ area of Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The prosecution informed the court that a mental assessment of the accused determined they were fit for trial.
Kiptoo's lawyer, Joseph Kiplagat, requested that his client be released because he is a student still in school.
The first accused, for his part, appealed to the judge to release him on fair bail terms, citing his two children, who have completed their form four studies and are scheduled to attend university in September.
Justice Wananda asked the prosecution to provide copies of witness testimonies to the defendants through their defense counsel.
He also ordered the prosecution to provide a pre-bail report in two weeks, when the accused people's motion to be released on bond would be heard.
Justice Wananda set the case for July 29, 2024.
