Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has officially gazetted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment, solidifying his removal from office.

The Gazette Notice, dated October 17, 2024, was issued shortly after the Senate approved the impeachment motion.

1. **Violation of Constitutional Provisions:** Gachagua was found guilty of grossly violating critical constitutional articles, including Articles 10, 27, 73, 75, 129, and 147, among others, concerning leadership, integrity, and public office conduct.

2. **Undermining Judicial Independence:** He was accused of grossly violating Article 160(1), which protects the independence of the judiciary and its decisions.

3. **Oath of Office Violations:** The Deputy President was found in breach of Articles 3(1) and 148(5)(a) regarding the fidelity to the Oath of Office.

4. **Criminal Allegations:** The Senate cited serious suspicions that Gachagua committed offenses under sections 13(1)(a) and 62 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act.

5. **Misconduct:** Gachagua was accused of gross misconduct, including publicly undermining the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) and its officers.

With Gachagua's impeachment now official, the President is expected to nominate a new Deputy President and submit the nominee’s name to the National Assembly for approval.
