Auctioneers, accompanied by police, are set to access the residence of nominated Senator Karen Nyamu at Graceville Villas in Runda to seize household items over alleged rent arrears amounting to Ksh 1.25 million.
A Nairobi court, through Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate A.H. Nyoike, authorized the enforcement of the court order dated November 11, 2024, and directed the Runda Police Commander to facilitate the process.
However, Senator Nyamu has dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting that she had an agreement with the landlord to purchase the property, with part of her deposit being credited toward the purchase.
She has promised to appeal the ruling. According to court records, James Gichuru Kirubi, the landlord, initially requested an attachment order last year for Ksh 385,000 in arrears.Rose Ndolo, the commander of Runda Police, attested to obtaining the court order and asked staff to maintain law and order throughout the attachment procedure.
