Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has expressed confidence in her ability to persuade former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to support Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid in 2027.

Ngilu, citing her longstanding political relationship with Raila, believes she can convince him to back Kalonzo as a reciprocal gesture for past support.

“He should send me to Kisumu. Raila and I have a long history. I’ll ask him to return the favor because we’ve stood by him for years. It’s time for him to support Kalonzo to become Kenya’s president,” Ngilu said.

Speaking during a burial in Kyondoni village, Kitui West, Ngilu emphasized her determination and ability to accomplish her goals.

“When I set out to do something, I never look back. I am confident we will go all the way to achieve this ultimate goal,” she stated.

Ngilu urged leaders backing Kalonzo, including religious groups, to focus on mobilizing eligible citizens to acquire ID cards to ensure they can vote.

“MP Nyenze and the clergy who support Kalonzo must stop empty talk and take action to help people get IDs,” she said. “When I return to the political scene, I will personally ensure everyone gets their IDs. No adult without an ID will get a handshake from me.”

Ngilu also announced her plans to reclaim the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections, signaling her return to active politics.
