Top leaders of the Azimio Coalition surged into his office around three in the morning. They demanded that the results of the presidential election be changed, according to Wafula Chebukati, the commission's recently-retired chair
Raphael Tuju, the executive director of Azimio, and Amos Wako, the senator for Busia, are said to have abruptly awakened Chebukati from his siesta after informing him of their arrival through his security detail.
"The two walked into the room even before I gave my security detail the go-ahead to allow them in," the retired IEBC Chairperson said on Tuesday.

The two suggested moderating election results to deny President William Ruto a victory and declare Raila Odinga of Azimio the winner, according to Chebukati, who testified before the tribunal established to investigate the actions of an IEBC faction led by the former Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera.
"They suggested that there will be a reward to which I responded I am sufficiently renumerated," he told the panel.
Chebukati said that commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye supported his position.
He stated that the suggestion by Tuju and Wako supported the group that included Cherera, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi, and Justus Nyang'aya.
Security Advisory Council Chebukati informed the panel that the National Security Advisory Committee members had already made similar demands before the visit by the pair.
He claimed that the NSAC warned him that if he named William Ruto the next President, "the country is going to burn."
He reiterated the details of what he had said when the Supreme Court heard the appeal about the 2022 presidential election.
In his testimony before the Supreme Court in September 2022, Chebukati stated that the NSAC delegation, which included Kennedy Kihara, the Principal Administrative Secretary in the President's office, requested that the election results be changed to force a runoff if he was unable to declare Odinga, the victor.
Lieutenant General Francis Omondi Ogolla, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, and Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto are among the delegation (Vice Chief of Defence Forces).
Although the meeting occurred, senior counsel George Oraro, who represented the former attorney general Kihara Kariuki in court, claimed the agenda needed to be correctly numbered.
Skirmishes between the Kikuyu and Luo groups reportedly erupted "in numerous due to an alleged "betrayal by the Kikuyu," slums such as Kibera and Mathare being the first."." That is according to the AG.
At the time, Chebukati stated, "The NSAC delegation's second point of emphasis was thatwe must ensure that there is a runoff if we cannot declare Raila Odinga as the undisputed victor."
