Nairobi governor Sakaja sobbed like a baby during the launch of a feeding programme Dishi Na County programme at Central Kitchen in Roysambu Primary School.

He was brought to tears while making his speech and wondered why the previous government had never initiated such a programme to shelter school-going children from learning while hungry.

Sakaja said that It is sad that children are forced to stay at home because they are too weak to walk to school because they missed a meal at home, especially in the evening, adding that the county government will ensure that children will be well-fed and are kept in school so that they can study and learn without facing any hunger problems.

The Governor, who committed to devoting resources to the Dishi Na County Programme, sobbed for almost 40 seconds during his remarks before being consoled.

He then wiped away his tears, stating that he was moved by the daily difficulties that Nairobi youngsters endure, before apologizing to the Head of State.

Dishi Na County receives county and national government funding to serve meals in school kitchens using locally obtained foods. This program will increase children's school attendance and nutritional health in Nairobi.

In his address to the same crowd, President Ruto praised Governor Sakaja and stated that the National Government will fund half of the initiative.

"I feel you, Governor Arthur Sakaja, and I assure you that this program will be successful." We are committed to ensuring that our children are treated with respect.

"I promised in my manifesto that we would implement the school feeding program." "I implore all governors to have feeding programs in our schools, as Governor Sakaja has done," Ruto assured.
