The first man to run a marathon in under two hours and one minute, Kelvin Kiptum is among five finalists for the 2023 Men's World Athlete of the Year award.

Kiptum claimed the overall winner of this World Marathon Majors series after victories in London in April and in Chicago last month.

Kiptum smashed the men's marathon world record in Chicago when he ran two hours and 35 seconds.

However, he will face off with world 100 and 200-meter champion Noah Lyles of the USA world pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis of Sweden, world shot-out champion Ryan Crouser of USA, and world javelin champion Neeraj Chopra of India.

The winner will be announced in an awards gala on December 11 in Monaco, France.
