Thiago Alcantara, a midfield player for Liverpool, reportedly suffers a new injury after developing a muscle issue on Thursday.

Before entering the game in the 85th minute of Sunday's 3-1 loss for Liverpool at Arsenal, Thiago had been sidelined since April due to hip and hamstring problems.

After the match, the 32-year-old Spaniard is thought to have complained of soreness in his muscles, and he will now likely have to miss more time due to injury.

Thiago's contract expires at the end of this season, and given his fitness concerns, his future at Anfield is uncertain.

The loss of the former Bayern Munich star player will hurt Liverpool, which led the Premier League by two points and will play Chelsea in the League Cup final on February 25.

Jurgen Klopp's team also advances to the Europa League last 16 and the FA Cup fifth-round matchup against Southampton.

Dominik Szoboszlai, a midfielder for Hungary, is already out of Saturday's match against struggling Burnley at Anfield due to an aggravating hamstring injury.

Wataru Endo might be available to cover the hole in Liverpool's midfield following Japan's elimination from the Asian Cup.

The Reds' forward Mohamed Salah is still out while he heals from a hamstring injury he suffered playing for Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations last month.
