Ferdinard Omanyala will lead a team of 83 athletes selected by Athletics Kenya (AK) to participate in Saturday's trials in Nyayo to choose a squad for the World Athletics Relay.

Other speedsters, including Hesbon Ochieng, three-time national 100m champion Mark Otieno, Isaac Omurwa, and Mike Mokamba, are fighting for a spot on Team Kenya.

The women's roster includes world 800-meter winner Mary Moraa, sprinter Joan Cherono, and veteran Milicent Ndoro.

The men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays and the 4x400m Mixed Relay are all scheduled events.

According to the athletics regulatory body, only invited competitors will compete in Nyayo to form Kenya's squad for the global event, which will take place in Nassau, Bahamas, on May 4-5.

The body also revealed that the relay teams will fight against invited international teams from Uganda and Tanzania at the trials.

Kenya's 4x100m relay squad will also compete in the World Athletics Relay to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Omanyala, Africa's fastest man, might team up with Otieno in the 4x100m as the country aims to improve its relay time for Olympic qualifying.

Kenya currently ranks 27th in the men's 4x100m, 15th in the men's 4x400m, 20th in the mixed relay, and 25th in the women's 4x400m
