Kenya, one of the co-hosts for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) is preparing for a crucial showdown against South Sudan in the first round of qualification. The winner on aggregate will advance to the final qualifying phase, where they will face the victor of the Djibouti and Rwanda matchup.
The first leg of this exciting encounter is set to take place between October 25-27, 2024, with the return leg scheduled for November 1-3, 2024.
As anticipation builds, football fans in the region will be keen to see if Kenya can clinch their spot in the prestigious tournament, which runs from February 1-28, 2025. Joining Kenya as co-hosts are Uganda and Tanzania, all of whom have received automatic qualification for the tournament. The CHAN provides a vital opportunity for these nations to showcase their readiness ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which they will also host.
In addition to the co-hosts, the CECAFA region will have one additional representative, while other African zones will contribute three teams each. With the tournament set to be the eighth edition of CHAN, the stakes have never been higher for Kenyan football.
