Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Rodrygo will miss Saturday's El Clasico against Barcelona due to a thigh injury sustained during this week's Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.

The club released a statement on Thursday confirming that tests revealed he has a muscle injury in his right femoral biceps. Spanish media report that he is expected to be out for approximately three weeks.

Rodrygo played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's comeback against Dortmund on Tuesday, keeping the ball in play to assist Lucas Vazquez, who scored the goal that gave the European champions the lead after they were down 2-0. The match ended with a 5-2 victory for Real Madrid. Following his assist, the 23-year-old was substituted.

In addition to Rodrygo, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will also miss the Clasico due to an adductor injury incurred during the Dortmund match. Belgian goalkeeper Courtois is likely to be replaced by Ukrainian Andriy Lunin for the clash against Barcelona at the Bernabeu.

Barcelona prepared for the highly anticipated matchup with a commanding 4-1 home win against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, with Raphinha netting a hat-trick.
