Eliud Kipchoge, a world-renowned marathoner, and Faith Kipyegon, a world champion, were named on Friday night as the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year competition for the Sports Personality of the Year honour in 2022Awards (SOYA).
The two are among the Kenyan athletes honoured at a glitzy black-tie banquet with Collins Injera as the special guest of honour.
Speaking in absentia, Kipchoge said the honour continues to inspire the bold Kenyan athletes and coaches. Kipchoge is currently in Kaptagat, Iten, testing a new prototype of the shoes he will wear at the Boston Marathon.
