The WRC Safari Rally Organising Committee, led by the recently appointed Carl "Flash" Tundo, plans to make essential budget adjustments for this year's event.
According to Tundo, the committee's primary goal is to produce a better and more significant event than previous iterations.
"We will look at it as well. The CS (Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba) has given us the mandate to minimize certain costs...with the incoming government. But as you know, we won't if we don't believe anything has to change. And as I mentioned yesterday, this is a form of partnership. We can all get along and move on.
"This (the Safari Rally) is a part of our legacy," he continued. We must carefully examine it to determine where we can save costs and where we can improve it because we cannot let this go. We are merely here to assist.

The multiple-time national rally champion also imagines a scenario in which the planning committee might not need to make significant adjustments.
He mentioned how the 70-year-old sporting event had had great previous iterations.
"Not if it doesn't need to be changed" (Safari Rally preparations). It's been a great event, and I've entered twice," Tundo added.
We will review the FIA report with the CEO even though we have yet to study it (Phineas Kimathi). He will give us advice based on the previous report. It's exciting times, and hopefully, we'll do that with the team as well, but we are here to do our jobs.
The group started working on Tuesday with a familiarization tour to the WRC Safari Rally Secretariat at Moi Stadium, Kasarani, where they met the various heads of department. The committee was established and unveiled by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba on Monday.
The several divisions managing the rally's numerous logistical elements led the team through a demonstration.
According to Tundo, the trip was essential so that every committee member could begin their job from a position of knowledge about the current state of the event's preparations.
He added that the WRC team could advise us on what they have been doing, what equipment they have, and what help they need to move things to the next event. "I am the chairman of the local organizing committee and I considered it prudent to bring my other members of the new team here," he said.
The rally is scheduled for June 23–25 this year.
