On November 29, Ababu Namwamba spoke for the first time after just a month in his office. Namwamba confirmed that on his first day in office, he called Fifa and started a conversation that led him to travel to Doha, Qatar, for further discussion.

 

"All things are in limbo. My teaching was that the burn could have been better for Kenya. It was holding Kenya back. Kenyan referees who could be officiating WorldCup couldn't go," Ababu told Bernard Ndong.

During the interview at NTV, Ababu made clear to Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, that they will not compromise on Integrity and accountability.

 In a second interview on the Citizen television news bulletin on Tuesday, Mr Namwamba started by giving reasons why he was in Qatar, whereas Kenya did not participate. He said his primary to Qatar was to meet the team. "I can confidently confirm during this meeting that the decision to lift this suspension was closed," said Namwamba.

The cabinet secretary said the focus was on getting Kenya's football team back. He confirmed that the football house is not clean and is in the process of cleaning it.

Ababu Namwamba said he was realistic, stating that the Kenyan Harambee Stars would participate in the 2030 world cup. "While at Doha, I spoke to Qatari-based Michael Olunga and challenged him to appear at the event donning our national colours."

Ababu said that in 3 weeks, they would launch Talanta Hela, which will be about monetizing and commercializing the sports and art sector.

"I'm a football enthusiast. My vision is Vision 2030. How do we get there? By going back to the basics," added Namwamba.
