According to his club, Neymar, a star for Brazil, underwent "successful" surgery on his right ankle on Friday after suffering an injury that won't allow him to participate for the rest of the year.
The procedure ended within hours after the 31-year-old Paris Saint-Germain player arrived at Aspetar hospital in Qatar on crutches early on Friday.
According to a statement from Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar Jr. underwent successful surgery late this morning.
"The player will now adhere to a rest and therapy plan."

James Calder, a British surgeon who has treated several European football stars, oversaw the procedure.
Neymar might miss up to four months of action after picking up yet another injury when playing against Lille last month.
After Paris Saint-Germain acquired Neymar in 2017 for a record-breaking 222 million euros ($264 million), fitness has become a frequent issue.
Since his arrival, he has only appeared in 112 of PSG's 228 Ligue 1 games, or 49 per cent.
Neymar, who underwent treatment in Qatar in 2018 for a similar ankle issue, has pledged to "come back stronger" from his most recent defeat.

Neymar won't be able to play any more games this season because the Ligue 1 season will end on June 3, and the Champions League final, should PSG advance, will take place in Istanbul a week later.

The 31-year-old had scored three goals in nine appearances since his return from Qatar when he had the same ankle injury while representing Brazil.
He was pulled off with a sprain in his country's 2-0 triumph against Serbia in their opening game and did not return during the group stage.
Despite Neymar handing Brazil the lead in the extra session, Croatia finally upset Brazil on penalties in the quarterfinals. The former Barcelona player came back in the elimination rounds.
At World Cups, he has already sustained injuries.
PSG constantly fretted about Neymar's physical condition when he joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in 2017 for a then-record 222 million euros ($264 million).
He has 118 goals in 173 outings with PSG. However, he has also missed over 100 games due to injury or suspension. Since his arrival, he has only participated in 49% of PSG's Ligue 1 games (112 out of 228).
During his debut season with PSG, he could not participate in the Champions League's second-leg match against Real Madrid due to a fractured metatarsal.
