Defending champion Kalle Rovanpera leads a strong field for this year's WRC Safari Rally, which takes place in Naivasha from the 21st to the 25th of June.

Rovanpera and his navigator Jonne Haltunen lead his Toyota Gazoo Rally colleagues, which include 2021 champion Sebastien Ogier, Takamoto Katsuta, and Elfyn Evans.

The M-Sport squad, led by drivers Otto Tanak and Pierre Louis Loubet, will attempt to take the Teams title away from Toyota.

The Safari Rally, one of the WRC's most legendary events, has also drawn Hyundai's Thiery Neuville and Eusapekka Lappi, indicating that the title contenders will be available to tackle the rally's rough terrain.

Kajetan Kajetanowicz leads the WRC2 field in a koda Fabia RS Rally2, with Grégoire Munster (Ford Fiesta Rally2) and Karan Patel (Ford Fiesta R5) also competing in the main support category.

Affiliates of the FIA Rally star program Kenya's Hamza Anwar and McRae Kimathi will compete for the Rally3 title, as well compatriots Jeremiah Wahome, Jason Bailey, Yasin Nasser, and Giancarlo Davirte.

The Safari Rally is the seventh round of the World Rally Championship, WRC, calendar's 13 legs.

With 98 points, Kalle Rovanpera leads the 30-driver standings, while Otto Tanak and Sebastien Ogier are second and third with 81 and 69 points, respectively.
