Ulinzi Starlets successfully defended the FKF Women Cup after defeating Nakuru City Queens 3-1 in Sunday's final at Nyayo National Stadium.

Mercy Airo emerged as the match's hero, scoring twice in the 10th and 14th minutes as Neddy Atieno scored the third goal.

Ulinzi's consolation goal came from replacement Merceline Wafula.

The military received Sh.500,000, but the Nakuru City Queens received only Sh.100,000.

In a conversation with Citizen Digital, Ulinzi head coach Joseph Wambua Mwanza praised his team's tenacity and dedicated their victory to their former chairman, Lieutenant Colonel Maina.

"It's a fantastic win for us that proves we are the FKF Cup heroines we deserve to be." I want to praise my players for their hard effort and excellent performance. I'd also like to thank the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) for their outstanding assistance this season.

"I also want to thank Mercy Airo for scoring two goals in the final; she was crucial in our efforts to retain the title." We want to thank our former chairman, Lieutenant Colonel Maina, who has been highly supportive. "He is why we continue to shine in women's football," Wambua said.

The coach is already anticipating a "bigger and better next season."

"Now that we've won, we'll focus on strengthening our squad for next season." We cannot decrease our standards, and we know we will need to work harder."

Ulinzi finished third in the Kenya Women's Premier League (KWPL), which was won by Vihiga Queens, with Gaspo finishing second.
