Arsenal is set to buy Chelsea forward Kai Havertz after agreeing on a fee of £65 million on Wednesday.

After Arsenal accepts the offer, Havertz will be permitted to discuss the condition of his contract and undergo medical treatment before the deal is finalized.

In recent weeks, the 24-year-old has emerged as a major target for the Gunners as they attempt to upgrade a group that finished second in the Premier League last season.

Havertz is on track to become Arsenal's first sign of the offseason after three inconsistent years at Chelsea.

Chelsea's owners prefer not to allow players to enter the final two years of their contracts, and Havertz, whose contract expires in 2025, has not agreed to an extension.

Mateo Kovacic departed Chelsea on Wednesday for treble-winners Manchester City, while N'Golo Kante has agreed to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

Havertz, who joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, has 19 goals in 91 Premier League games.

Despite some erratic finishing and shaky performances, Havertz will always hold a special place in Chelsea fans' hearts after scoring the game-winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final victory over Manchester City.

Havertz hopes his upcoming move across the city gives a more stable environment to develop in after Chelsea's terrible campaign over the last year, which included nine goals in 47 games for the German.

By paying such a high amount for Havertz, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has demonstrated that he believes the forward can be a major member of his attack weekly.
