A former Barcelona player named Sergio Busquets has joined Inter Miami.

The Major League Soccer team had already signed his former teammate Lionel Messi before deciding to sign the 34-year-old Spaniard as a free agent.

The midfielder's contract with Barcelona is set to expire next week, making him a free agent. According to Fabrizio Romano, the player reportedly declined offers from Saudi Arabian teams in favour of joining David Beckham's group to obtain MLS experience..

The former Spain international played alongside Messi at the Nou Camp from his Blaugrana first-team debut in 2008 until the Argentine said his sorrowful goodbyes to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.

As Jordi Alba is reportedly a target of Inter Miami, a third ex-Barcelona player might join them.

After Spain won the UEFA Nations League, Alba, whose Barca contract was supposed to expire after another year, struck a deal to end it last month and is expected to decide his future soon.


According to ESPN, the left-back is reportedly considering offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan.

Since making his debut for Barcelona in 2008, Busquets has played 722 times and has spent his whole career there. Numerous honours have been bestowed upon him, including nine La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, and seven Copa del Reys.
