In a groundbreaking move, CAF made history in 2019 by including female referees in men's tournaments for the first time at the Under-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Tanzania. Among the referees on the list was Mary Njoroge, who contributed to this significant milestone.
Further showcasing their talent and capabilities, Mary Njoroge and Gilbert Cheruiyot were selected to officiate matches during the 2020 FIFA Men's and Women's Olympic Football Tournament in 2021.

Continuing her impressive journey, Mary Njoroge received the honor of officiating the CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash between Zambia's NAPSA Stars and Cameroon's Coton Sport in early 2021. Her selection for such prestigious matches demonstrates her growing stature as a respected referee.
