Reports indicate that Barcelona's opening La Liga match of the season against Getafe will be held without spectators present. Despite being the reigning champions, Barcelona will embark on their title defense with an away fixture against Getafe. However, the home team has received instructions to stage the match in an empty stadium, devoid of any fans.

Cadena SER claims that Getafe will suffer the effects of a supporter ban for their forthcoming encounter against Barcelona. The Supreme Court handed this punishment as a result of an incident in 2019 during a match versus Tenerife. There have been reports of Getafe supporters tossing items from the stands. The court's decision requires Getafe to impose a one-game fan ban, which will take effect for their encounter against Barcelona.

Barcelona's previous trip to Getafe ended in a scoreless tie in April. Notably, after the game at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Barca coach Xavi Hernandez complained about the field, the start time, and the weather.
