On Tuesday, Annemarie, the wife of former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, provided an update on his health status. She stated that although van der Sar is still in intensive care, his condition is stable, and he is no longer in immediate danger after experiencing a brain bleed last week. Van der Sar was hospitalized in Split, Croatia, on Friday while on vacation.

“Edwin is still in the intensive care unit but is stable. He is not in life-threatening danger,” Annemarie was quoted as saying by Ajax Amsterdam, where Van der Sar was until recently a director.

“Every time we get to visit him, he’s communicative. We have to wait patiently to see how his situation will develop.”

At the age of 52, Van der Sar had a six-year tenure as a player at Old Trafford, eventually departing in 2011. Prior to the conclusion of the previous season, he made the decision to step down from his position at Ajax, where the club's performance resulted in a third-place finish in the Dutch league. Unfortunately, this outcome also meant that Ajax failed to secure a spot in the Champions League for the first time since 2009.
