Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel, 18, has joined Chelsea from Santos for an undisclosed sum. When he made his debut against Fluminense in the Maracana Stadium in October 2020 at the age of 15 years and 308 days, he broke the record for the youngest player in the history of the Brazilian top division. In 129 games with Santos, Angelo has since scored five goals.
When he scored in April 2021 at the age of 16, he broke the record for the Copa Libertadores' youngest goal scorer.
Attacker with the left foot, Angelo has played for Brazil at the under-15, under-17, and under-20 levels but has not been called up to the senior international team.
He is Chelsea's third acquisition of the summer window, following the £52 million acquisition of France forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig and the purchase of Villarreal's Nicolas Jackson, a 22-year-old striker from Senegal.
The Blues are also keen to reduce their squad size.
Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic has signed for Manchester City, Kai Havertz for Arsenal and Mason Mount for Manchester United, while goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and defender Kalidou Koulibaly have moved to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
N'Golo Kante has made the switch to fellow Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, while midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and winger Christian Pulisic have departed for AC Milan.
Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has left the club as a free agent, and defender Cesar Azpilicueta has moved to Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.
