Faith Kipyego has hinted that she will try her luck in 800 metres races in the near future.

Kipyegon has said that though she wishes to participate in the 800 meters, her focus, for now, will remain on the 1500 meters and 5000 meters in Budapest.

"When the chance comes, and it finds me when I am still strong, I would wish to keep motivating young generations and young women around the world that everything is possible. I don't know about breaking the record in 800 meters, but I will leave it for Mary Morah, a young upcoming athlete, for now," Kipyegon said.

However, Kipyegon has remained confident she will keep a chance in the 800 meters.

"It is not easy, but the kind of awards I keep receiving is a great motivation to me (to go for the 800M). I am sure I will try it in the future," she said.

Her declaration was made a few weeks after she broke the women's mile world record in Monaco by nearly five seconds.

She finished the race in 4:07.64, breaking Sifan Hassan's previous record of 4:12.33 from 2019.

The multiple world record holder was honoured for the same achievements in July and was named the LG/SJAK Sports Personality of the Month on Wednesday due to her exceptional exploits.

Kipyegon received recognition for her stunning performance at the Monaco Diamond League and for breaking the women's 1,500-meter and 5000-meter world records on June 2 and 9 in the previous month.

An LG 55" NanoCell TV worth Kes 118,000 was given to Kipyegon for her.
