Morocco set the record by beating Portugal 1:0 in the quarterfinal match, which saw the countries battle against each other.

It was a tight match for both sides despite the Portugal manager deciding to bench his crucial player and captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, for the second match in a row after he was benched again in the game against Switzerland.

En-Nesyri scored Morocco's only goal in the first half of the game.

En-Nesyri became Morocco's top goals scorer in World cup history with three goals to his name.

Morocco, who will on Wednesday face the defending Champions France in the semi-finals of the ongoing FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar, made Africa proud by booking a [place in the semis for the first time in Africa's Football history with their manager Walid Regragui becoming the first ever African manager to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World cup.

This record comes barely days after Morocco joined Senegal, Ghana and Cameroon, becoming the fourth African team to reach the Quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup.

Morocco goalkeeper Bounou was the perfect player on the pitch for Morocco, keeping every shot from the opponents in his hands.

In the second half, things seemed harsh for Morocco after they reluctantly tried to defend so well, knowing they were halfway into the semis.

Cristiano Ronaldo was introduced in the game in the 51st minute, where he neither did much, getting only one good chance past the Moroccan defence and getting a shot towards Morocco's goal. Still, Bounou kept the ball away, securing a third clean sheet for his country.

Morocco has conceded only one goal, which is its own goal in the ongoing World Cup.
